My #1 Tip for Overcoming Awkwardness in Front of the Camera
Okay, bear with me, because I’m about to share a potentially unpopular opinion.
If you feel uneasy when being photographed (and even if you feel completely comfortable), my advice is to ignore the camera. Seriously, don’t even look at it! Staring into a camera lens is totally unnatural for most of us, so why would we want a bunch of images of ourselves doing something we never do?

In my opinion, what make for the best photos are those moments when you’re interacting with your loved ones, your friends, your pet, or even the environment around you. Sure, we’ll aim for a few shots where everyone is focused on the camera, but in my experience, you can have a gorgeous gallery full of images where your attention is with each other!

Trust me, this sweet family wasn’t awkward in front of the camera at all, but all their favorite images are still ones where they’re interacting with each other instead of with the camera.
